This is a scene from his library where one must play a set of tunes lighting up a stained glass window section-by-section, until it's all lit up. It depicts s one can see a nautilus giving a mermaid a pearl.
This is the City of heroes game mentioned. This includes of the box cover or title screen, but it also encompasses the kraken in the harbor. For those unsure of the game, it is a massive multi-player online game where literally thousands of people play simultaneously. You can team up and take down gangs, bad guys, and other large missions.
This is a LARGE mission. To start out, this beast generally requires 40 or so players all 40th level to hit it over, and over, and over...
You can't just go attack this thing your first time in....
To put it in perspective, I have added a shot showing heroes up alongside a tentacle at close range. Also understand that many characters die, oops... I mean are temporarily knocked out while fighting this behemoth.
I'm yet to find a game where you actually play out life AS a cephalopod... that's one of the reasons I designed Cuttle Scuttle. The beta version is about to launch, and we'll be making it available on Steam very soon.
Here's a little preview from our recently retired alpha version.
You can now vote for Cuttle Scuttle on Steam to help it become a reality. You will need to establish a Steam account though (don't worry, it's free and easy).
In case you missed the news, the public beta of Cuttle Scuttle is now available to buy for US$2.99, download and play on Windows PCs. Perpetual updates included. Commercial release will follow in Q1 2015 on Windows, Mac, Linux and mobile.
Octopus Game & Watch. The titular octopus makes a return in Super Smash Brothers and Nintendo land.
Animal Crossing features Octopus villagers in Zucker, Octavian and Marina as well as nautilus, squid and octopus to be caught in the sea.
Splatoon is a love letter to cephalopods from the transforming squid Inklings, Octopus enemies and the weapon shop is called Ammo Knights.
Pokemon has a good line in cephs- the ammonite inspired Omanyte and Omastar, octopus Octillery and the squid/cuttlefish Inkay and Malamar.
Mario''s bloopers and Legend of Zelda''s Octoroks have already been mentioned.
Outside of Nintendo, Metal Gear Solid 4 features Laughing Octopus a camouflaging psychotic 'beauty' and I don't think DAY OF THE TENTACLE has been mentioned yet!
There are lots more. As ever cephalopods are everywhere in culture but still cryptic just like real life!
