This is a series of short documentaries that are always worth watching and can be subscribed to when they post new updates. Cephs are only occasionally shown but the photography is always excellent and commentary informitive
Thanks very much for posting this DWhatley, and for your kind words. This is my series. Octopus, mating cuttlefish, and a couple of squid feature in forthcoming episodes in a month or two. In fact some footage from one of the forthcoming episodes was discussed here. I will post in the forum when the completed cephalopod episodes are published. A couple of useful links:
So the main cephalopod videos are now online. Last week I published a video that features a lot of footage of Sepia pharaonis mating. The cuttlefish footage starts at 01:24. I would be interested in any thoughts on the cause of the spilt gametes at 02:45. I was assuming it's just bad aim, but perhaps this is gametes belonging to a previous mate, that the latest male mate has removed?
...and today I released a video of two Octopus cyaneathat was also discussed in the behaviour forum (apologies for cross-posting). Still not sure if it's fighting or courtship. After that we see another O. cyanea under attack from a damselfish, presumably defending its eggs.
Next week's night dive episode features a little footage of squid and cuttlefish feeding on fish.
