Oldest marine mollusk (in its genus) discovered

    but not actually the "Oldest marine mollusk", just the oldest example of one kind of Cretaceous bivalve, an odd type from the group known as "rudists".

    Here attached are some younger Cretaceous examples of rudist bivalves from the Omani desert. Some of them look very much like corals.
