    Ok. So my tank has a pH of about 7.8-8.0, 0-.17 nitrites,

    Water changes would be my suggestion.

    WC's will help, but it seems as if you have no protein skimmer. Fatal decision. Also, cycling a tank with animals, let alone invertebrates, let alone a cephalopod, let alone an octopus, was a very bad decision. If it was a matter of time issues, well, we all have those, but it's not what's best for us. It's what's best for the animals.
