Thank you for clearing that up for me. I have noticed that he is getting more use to everything and coming out during the day!
 
As Roy pointed out in the thread, unless you just want to observe the tank at night (not the octopus), no light at all is best for a diurnal where a red light (over other colors) is recommended for crepuscular and nocturnal animal observation.
