why do octos need a protein skimmer

    can an octo survive with out a protein skimmer i mean is it absolutely necessary or could they do ok with out it

    Yes, they can live without a protien skimmer, but it is a good idea to have one. One of the main reasons to have one is it removes ink.

    Once you see how much junk a skimmer removes from the water, you will be sold...I regard skimmers as a necessary part of the filtration, they are simple, relatively inexpensive, and easy to use and maintain...no negative points!

    They also put a lot of oxygen into the water which helps again.

    Dont skimp on the skimmer :)
