I got this new little one two weeks ago from KP Aquatics. I haven’t had one since the last one passed in December, and now that we’re safely two weeks into acclimation, I’m ready to start a journal! I’d say it’s a small briareus, but sometimes I’ve thought that and they turn out to be a joubini.

I just got those FluvalSmart
lights and love the ability to control dawn & dusk! I’ve been keeping it set to 1% red light over night, starting at 7pm or so. For the last week it has been making regular appearances on the glass for Star Trek from 8pm until we go to bed.

This morning it was out and very playful, so I popped my hand in and it made First Contact. It started as usual- shy sucker touch. This quickly progressed to it tenting my full fist, nibbling, then a true bite. It was very small and bled just a tiny bit. It swelled only a bit and only for a few minutes, then looked normal. Afterward it was very curious and stayed out for a long while, seemed super interested in my phone- so I got a lot of pics. Good thing Tuesday’s are my day off!

Bite photos. You know, you need a magnifying glass to see it!

I had a small briareus, and it had considerably more webbing than your cute little octopus shows. So maybe it.’s another species.

:feet: is anyone able to play & view the videos above? I'm trying to troubleshoot why this .MOV file won't render, but others will. When I download it as an attachment, my PC tells me I need to install a specific codec to view it. Anyone else having issues?

:feet: Not finding anything odd. It is a 25,267 kb .mov (Apple Quicktime) file so not particularly large. I checked my default player and it is something labeled Movies & TV. I tried the HP software that came with my computer as well as Windows Media Player and all played. Are you running Windows 10? If so did you upgrade to it or did it come installed. If it is an upgrade you may need to update your version of Windows Media Player. I used to have to use VLC or upload codex for my Canon because it created .mov files but now the Media Player seems to be able to play them fine (likely an end of copy right thing)

:feet: thanks, but you have to download & play it, correct? I'd like those videos to be embedded vs. download, but it doesn't seem to be working. @sedna also notes that it kind of stops at 99% when uploading (I couldn't recreate that).
