Texas dive locations

I know there are only a handful of members that are from Texas, but does anyone know of any location where you can shore dive and visibility is more than just a foot? I've been searching for forever but I can't find anything.

I haven't heard of any place where shore diving is any better - the water along the Texas coast isn't so very clear. Why don't you search online for dive shops along the coast, or diving groups and ask them. There are boat trips to the Flower Garden Reef about 80 miles out. It's supposed to be well worth visiting. There was a book published a few years ago about diving there.

I've seen people diving off 61st street in Galveston, but don't know what the visibility is like.
