Substrate

Should be just fine...I usually have thinner sand bed, but I have two friends who have really thick sandbeds, and swear by them...go figure! Good luck with the bimac (s) !

Are you asking the importance of a DSB, or just asking if LS in ok?
Two inches will not become a DSB, but I question the importance of a DSB anyway. Your substrate sounds fine to me.
