Squid size hatching

Hi,

is there someone who can let me know what the average size would be or squid that hatches?

The ones I've seen (not that many really) are around about 5mm

There are several SquidCam threads in Physiology and Biology (advance search Squidcam in titles). I know there are some stills from the cam in the last one for a visual but you will have to search to see if size is mentioned.

It very much depends on the family/genus/species and egg size - I'd hate to give 'an average' because it would be a bit meaningless. Some squid have large eggs and accordingly large larvae, some have small eggs and similarly small larvae. Some octopus eggs can reach ~ 50 mm in greatest length, others but a few mm; so little is known about squid but there is considerable variation in their egg size.
