Just in time for 2010 Cephalopod Awareness Days, episodes of the anime series SQUID GIRL (Shinryaku! Ika Musume) will become available via simulcast later today to premium members of Crunchyroll, a completely legal streaming anime video site. For those who (like Yours Truly) do not have premium memberships in Crunchyroll, the SQUID GIRL episodes will become available in about a week.

The reviews seems very positive so far. The theme is summarized as follows:

With the environment ever deteriorating on a global scale, rage of those who suffer the most is about to erupt. Take this girl, for example. She is hell-bent on annihilating mankind before her species is wiped off the surface of the earth, or, to be precise, off the bottom of the ocean. As she sets out on her vengeful journey, however, she becomes aware of certain limitations. She's nothing but a squid out of water....

Ika Musume herself is somewhat of a cutie with her kawaii squid-fin hat, big blue eyes, and matching feeding-tentacle hair -- but watch out when she loses her temper!

Registration for basic membership on Crunchyroll is free, and premium anime membership (which I may opt for eventually) is just $6.95 per month. Either way, sooner or later you will have the opportunity to follow the adventures of this moé-moé mollusk maiden online. Here's the URL:

its a pretty hilarous anime, they use freshly just made squid ink to cook pasta which made me laugh.

It has some great humor and does fit this, Crunchyroll also provides tons of different anime to check out.
