Yet ANOTHER ceph question:

Is there any evidence that juvenile Archis or Messies spend any time in the so-called "Shadow Zone" (approx 200 meters down)? Its just seems that, given the unique sound properties of this zone of water, its would be adventageous to hide there for additional protection against predators utilizing sound.

Previously, Steve O. said that Archis spend a lot of time in deep water columns in a relative holding pattern, but that the juveniles might be a bit more mobile. Maybe they spend time maturing in this zone?

If no one has done this work, I call first dibs on the research grant!

God I love being back in school!
