Ed Yong, my favorite (thanks again and again Kat) science writer recently summarized a new 3-D printer application in this NatGeo hosting of his Not Exactly Rocket Science Blog. I have wondered off and on if salt concentrations in our tanks affect our octopuses activity state and found this a comment in the article worthy of thought about their skin pliability.

Villar could also create tissues that can fold and contract, by printing drops with different salt concentrations. Once they are printed, the saltier drops soak up more water and swell to a greater size.
