Another Western Australian Octopus saved.
After experiencing a frustrating day snorkelling in a 5 m swell, I went to collect shells for my tank bed. As I was collecting the shells I noticed consistent rolling waves coming from both sides of the point I was in the middle of.
Walking back to my car, I noticed a black object on the beach
(about 200 meters down from the point).
As I went to investigate, out came a small tentacle...alas Robinson Crusoe had been found...

Wow, nice one. I just love big octopuses...how big is this one and what species do you think it is? It's skin is jet white. I wish octopuses were just as local around here.

I believe it is from the Octopus Australis family, not 100 % sure though.
I havn't been able to measure its mantle. From tentacle to tentacle it has a span of about 70 cms & weighs about 400 grams.
