What's the smallest species of octopus that isn't nocturnal and is no more difficult to take care of than any other octopus?

I would say. O.Hummelincki or A.Aculeatus these guys are what I would call a small to medium size octopuses, and they require a tank of at least 55.

O. IHaveNoClue:wink: Monty would be the perfect aquarium species if he is of the large egg variety and a sought after animal from the wild if not but figuring out what he is, species hatchling requirements and obtaining others is something I hope to work on next year (or five) :biggrin2:.
