octosquid.io (with permission) Octopus laqueus is a small incirrate octopus found in Okinawa, Japan and elsewhere in the IndoPacific. It is a sub-tropical nocturnal species that lives in shallow water reefs and lagoons. Unlike most octopuses, which are typically solitary as adults, Octopus laqueus has been observed to share what may be a single den between individuals. If true, Octopus laqueus may be a social octopus, although this idea still requires experimental evidence.
