Octopus briareus from TomsCaribbean :)

Today Aug.28 , 2009 , i wake up and see my othee2 inside the breeder net with blue , they were fighting so i had to act fast and at that moment blue looked scared and inked so i took othee2 out immediately , the 20g tank is running but it is still soon to put ether one.thanks god blue is ok , this octo is amazing.

There has never been a TONMO recorded success of keeping two octos of different species in the same tank, regardless of the type of divider. If you hope to keep both alive, separate them and change water daily if you have to.

How big is the tank you have running now? Othee is an aculeatus, right? You'll have to put Othee in the 20 gal (which is still small for an aculeatus), a briareus will get way too big for a 20 gal cube! As you've found out, there is probably NO way to keep the two apart in one tank, so try to move one of them ASAP! If you want to keep 2 octos in one tank, then try 2 mercs in the 20 gal cube (wait until you don't have such an over- abundance, though!).

Wednesday 9/9/09 ...i moved othee to the 20 gal last week , and he seems happy , blue is doing fine too and he is eating live crayfish , now when i woke up today morning , there are eggs in the glass of the tank and othee is protecting them and does not want to move from that spot...!!!! what shall i do ? can eggs hatch in the aquarium ? shall i remove them or not ? can i move them to another tank and put them in a breeder net? there are between 100-200 eggs...
