New Hanlon Paper with theory on Color Blind Cuttles ability to match color

That's really cool. It kind of makes sense, they can blend in so well with the background on parts of their body that they can't see with their eyes (like their underside and posterior) that it seems like there would have to be another mechanism. Also, I didn't know that humans had photoreceptors in their skin, but maybe that has to do with melanin production...

I thought that was interesting too and wondered if it had to do with sunburn, or at least an attempt to mitigate it. I wonder if the biological reason has waned where humans spend less time exposed but is still active in people without habitat technology.
