last week i was checking out a rock for crustacean fossils when i found something unexpected. its around half an inch long and looks a lot like a small straight shelled cephalopod with an hourglass shaped structure at the tip. details like suture lines and camera/septa are hard to make out but i think i found something along the lines of Bactrites.

i did some sanding to reveal some of the internal structure. i think see some faint lines that look slightly like camera, but thats just me. it also appears that the branching is rather superficial.
