Hello everyone, first time caller, long time listener.
So, here we go! I am a experienced saltwater aquarist with about 15 years under my belt. I was at one of my LFS about two weeks ago when I saw they had 3 octopus in a display tank. I have always wanted to dive into the hobby and study of cepholapods but never been game enough to. I felt sorry for these octos as they didn't look very well. I had a 30gal tank at home ready to go, I just sold a mantis shrimp that I had in there for about 2 years, so I decided to take the plunge. I asked the guy at the shop what species it was and his answer was "it's a local cought species. Living in Sydney Australia, I did a bit of research on native species to where I live. Most likely I have a "common Sydney octopus" (octopus tetricus) and it must be a juvenile as this species gets around the 80cm arm span size. He/she has been in my tank for around 2 weeks & in that time has dramatically improved in appearance and activity since being brought from the LFS, eats really well, is very curious about everything etc.....
I've been reading through these threads and I must say, I'm glad I joined up! There is a plethora of knowledge!
