Motherhood a killer for Sidney octopus - Victoria Times Colonist

Does anyone know if ANY GPO's have been raised from egg in captivity. I know there has been some success with vulgaris and another Alaskan octo (smaller than the GPO but still a small egg species, unfortunately, I don't remember the species name but do remember that crab larvae was a successful food).

I think that is wishful thinking but I did notice that Maya would leave the den occassionally but she was still very protective of the infertile eggs.

There are exceptions when an aquarium is a flow through (to and from the sea) system that keeps local animals (no flow through should have invasive species).
