Does anyone know if ANY GPO's have been raised from egg in captivity. I know there has been some success with vulgaris and another Alaskan octo (smaller than the GPO but still a small egg species, unfortunately, I don't remember the species name but do remember that crab larvae was a successful food).

Romagosa believes Darla's behaviour is so protective that the eggs have probably been fertilized.
Really? Do they behave differently for fertilized and unfertilized eggs?

aquarium staff who were preparing to release her after six months in captivity.
Ummm...I thought this was the ultimate no no?

I think that is wishful thinking but I did notice that Maya would leave the den occassionally but she was still very protective of the infertile eggs.

There are exceptions when an aquarium is a flow through (to and from the sea) system that keeps local animals (no flow through should have invasive species).
