Large dead squid - ID ideas?

I received this note and the attached photo via email, and got approval to post it here. Any ideas? Not sure yet if we can get a hold of the video that the other guy took. Not a lot to go on here, but any directional info would be good...

I'm a skipper at Encounter Kaikoura, a dolphin swimming operation in Kaikoura, NZ. I took a photo of a dead squid that I am unsure of its ID. If you send me a reply I can attatch the photo?

Well, at face value it looks like what I'd expect a young Taningia danae or Thysanoteuthis rhombus would look like, with my guesswork leaning towards Taningia.
