Kazakh Permian nautilid

Here's an attractive nautilid ("Metacoceras"), 68 mm across, from the Lower Permian (Artinskian) of Aktubinskaya, Kazakhstan. There's also an orthocone lower right and a few ammonoids on the left hand side (not visible in this photo).

Ever since my mad dash through part of the Smithsonian where I saw technicians working on the fossils and then see Hagar's post where the fossils have been extracted, I keep thinking I would like to try my hand at cleaning and polishing :oops:
