It is an interesting time of information and misinformation and guesswork. There was an article about a month ago that suggested just the opposite in that because the squid could live in the low oxygen zones and that the zones were rising, forcing food to either become lathargic or into a narrower band, the squid would multiply (it also mentioned the reduced number of preditors). The only things the articles agreed on was what was happening to the oceans. This article mentions that they simulated the expected environment in an aquarium but we already know gigas does not survive well in an aquirium without the complications of bad water ...
