My understanding is that attacks by humbolt squid have generally been on people fishing for them. Can't blame the squid, their instinct in that situation is survival.

I've had a lot of encounters with wild animals (sadly no diving with cephs, yet) and the general rule is if you don't mess with them they won't mess with you.
