Joubiniteuthis

This genus contains one species, Joubiniteuthis portieri. Known commonly (did you see what I did there D? ) as Joubin's squid, it can be identified by its unique fins and "tail".

so far as i know we only have two in-situ observations of this guy, one is video taken from the porthole on submersible pisces in 2003, which is where the screenshot @GPO87 comes from:

I am in love with that 2021 footage. I find squid "passive positioning" in the water column to be ridiculously interesting. And what a beautiful stance Joubinoteuthis has in this footage.
