Hood Canal divers proud of giant Pacific octopus habitat Tristan Baurick
Ask a Puget Sound diver about the giant Pacific octopus and you’ll likely get a description that sounds more like spectacle than an animal.
“It’s the way they move their body it’s like a work of art,” said John Williams, a Suquamish diver and underwater filmmaker. “When they turn around, and their arms are in circles and spirals, and their skin is changing color and texture...it’s almost like watching a fractal.”
