Sherry Tamone, a professor of marine biology at the University of Alaska Southeast, looked at Anderson's pictures and guessed the creature was likely a very large humboldt squid

It doesn't look like any of the humboldt photos I have seen, the tentacles are too long and the size would be enormous for a humboldt so I wonder why she would say this after looking at the picture.
 
Judging from the picture, this appears to be Onykia, most likely O. robusta.
