happy 4th everyone!!

I hear good reports coming from the colonies these days. You chaps are making a decent go of it, it seems. Good luck to you all!

Seriously, hope you have a fun day. July 4th may not mean much over here, but the thought of roast turkey most certainly does!

Ah yes...kabobs marinating for the grill, beer in the cooler, pool full. Happy 4th to all of you too !

...don't forget combustion, the most important 4th of July tradition!

Happy July 4, everyone!

Phil and Greg, I was fortunate enough to see the WWII aircraft flyovers yesterday afternoon, just sitting on our deck - the best was the B-29 with a large fighter escort. They flew very low right over our house and the sound was like nothing else.

Lazy summer days, hot, blue skies with little puffy clouds - perfect July 4. Now add some BBQ and potato salad....and fireworks tonight.

Our neigborhood association puts out a little American flag next to every mailbox (our mailboxes are next to the sidewalk) so we look quite dressed up. Larger neighborhoods have their own July 4 parades.

I'm terribly jealous: Fifi (the B-29) was going to be at the Oshkosh fly-in last year but canceled. I still haven't seen it in person!

Ah, the neighborhood parades! Where I grew up that meant the whole town. Did I mention it was a very small town? Kids with red, white, and blue streamers wound thourgh their bike (and even trike) spokes, the town band, the American Legion and Vets of foreign wars, all trying with varying degrees of success to get into their old uniforms, The Boy Scouts carrying the flag.......and at the end of the 5 or 6 blocks that comprised Main Street, the park for the town picnic. Right out of Norman Rockwell.:usa:

Rats...I haven't seen a B-29 in a month of sundays! Glad to hear everyone seems to be having a great day !

Well, that's interesting. I didn't know that there were any B-29s flying, but that's probably because there aren't any over here as far as I know. I once was lucky to catch sight of two B-17s in formation with a Lancaster at an airshow and that was an awe-inspiring sight. One can only but imagine what it must have been like to watch a squadron of these things 60 years ago.

Looks like my BBQ went the same way as Gregs.
