Anecdotally, the type specimens of an onychoteuthid species (Onychoteuthis bergii) are two specimens that were supposedly found one morning in the ship's crow's nest 10m above the water's surface, having flown/washed in during the previous night. This height seems a bit extreme but hey, it's on the label in the jar. Can we get a flying squid smiley? This one doesn't seem quite right...
