    There are a number of articles (both news and scientific) about how and why squid fly. This is the latest and I will consolidate the others to this thread.

    Anecdotally, the type specimens of an onychoteuthid species (Onychoteuthis bergii) are two specimens that were supposedly found one morning in the ship's crow's nest 10m above the water's surface, having flown/washed in during the previous night. This height seems a bit extreme but hey, it's on the label in the jar. Can we get a flying squid smiley? This one doesn't seem quite right... ;) :angelpus:
