If an electric clam is Indonesian scallop that phosphoreses there should be no harm to an octopus. HOWEVER, no mollask is safe from becoming octopus food.

Electric clams don't phosphorese. The bright blue line on the edge of the mantle is reflected light.

One of my PhD students is working on what is the function of this signal.

I had never heard of them so I looked them up to be sure there was not a known dangerous property. Very interesting scallop and I hope you can let us know what the student discovers.

The scallops are also notoriously hard to keep, needing a lot of specialized food. They aren't really a simple animal, and often shouldn't be purchased.

I am confused why you would keep them together. The octopus will eat the clam. There is no possibility of it NOT being eaten.
