Is it in Bangor? Iv very fermilliar with the area. Half of my family is from Eastport. About 2 mins from
Canada.

edit* about 2 hours and 30 mins north of Bangor

UM Orono, which is just north of Bangor. I know of Eastport, but have never been there. I did some of the research work for the tidal turbine that is going in there.

Here's my advice - what you do at University matters a lot more than which school you attend. Spot quiz: do you know which schools the PhD members of TONMO attended? When you think about their accomplishments, how much does the specific school they went to matter? My advice is that what matters more is getting involved where ever you are. Get the grades but also volunteer to help with research and find ways to stand out from the crowd. Your grades, accomplishments and connections will help you get into grad school. If you want to go the distance, your goal should be a full grad school scholarship.

If you specifically want to work on cephalopods, try to go somewhere that has a prof doing the kind of work you are interested in. Keep in mind that there are not that many of us cephalopod scientists, so it is normal to get a general biology/zoology/etc degree, perhaps from somewhere that doesn't have a ceph specialist, and then specialize in graduate school. Don't let that stop you from doing your reports and honors projects on cephalopods anytime you have a chance!

It sounds so interesting.

To become marine biologist, Chemistry, Biology and other life science courses are required. After 4 years of college, you could get a BS and carry buckets of fish for professors. Another 1 to 3 years for MS, and you get to carry the clipboard for professors. Another 3 years, get a PhD and then try to find a teaching position, so you can have BS and MS holders work for you. Then you must find grants and do research and publish between teaching upper level classes.
