    Can we use this thread to perhaps centralize resources on octopus pain physiology and other aspects of octopus biology which impact ethical care of octopuses? Perhaps build a bibliography of sorts.

    Good idea - if you could expand it from just octopus to cephalopods more generally, I'd be happy to contribute a couple of squid-centric references that might be of interest? I don't think there is any primary literature on octopus nociception or pain just yet (maybe in future...).
