Here's an example- the track is called "Cuttlefish".
Your favorite example(s)?
The Lovecraft-inspired scifi rock band Darkest Of The Hillside Thickets has a track on their new album called "A Marine Biologist". Fantastic song, some of the lines read:
"Architeuthis, lean and fast.
Show us your sublime buccal mass.
He’s got a bathyscaphe
He’s a marine biologist
Slid with the squid underneath the waves!"
This is alongside many other Lovecraftian lyrical attacks. So awesome.
Jonathan Coultan has a song called Octopus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE84HH8wNwY
I know one song where the chorus goes:
Octopus, Some kind of octopus
Tearing my shell apart
Letting the sea get in
you make my insides outside.
I will have to get a youtube link later, but it is a very good song.
I started a thread on AskMetafilter that has garnered some suggestions. Is there a forum for cephalopod-inspired music on TONMO? Didn't see anything under Culture.
This struck my curiosity and I took a gander on Rhapsody, here is some album art that I found.
Those are great! I just did my own search on Google (looking for Syd Barrett's Octopus single, which I bought in high school), and found the mother lode:
Wow, you weren't kidding!
He also has one called 'I Crush Everything' about giant squid, which I quite like.
The Nautiloids stuff is on YouTube
Nautiloid Reef and the cover by The Mongols
I believe I must go with "Octopus I Love You" by Dalmatian Rex and the Eigentones. I was quite chipper when I first found this song!
Is that a euphemism for slightly inebriated ?
Separate names with a comma.
