Hi all,

Although my big trip focused mostly on dead squid in jars, I did try to get to the local aquarium in most places (apart from DC, where my plan to meet Carol in Baltimore was foiled by the dastardly tropical storm Barry ).
The Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town is very good, so if you ever get the chance to go there, you should! Although there were only two ceph species, the giant Indonesian/Malaysian morays (~9' long, heads the size of German Shepherds' heads!) were amazing, and their kelp forest is IMHO as good as Monterey Bay's.
Not sure what species the octo and cuttle were, but I had fun interacting with them both...

I have some videos of that octo too, but will have to figure out how to upload them.
This octo was in the Waikiki Aquarium (again, no species ID, sorry), and the nautiluses were at the California Academy of Science's temporary Steinhart Aquarium facility.

The nauti's were the easiest to photograph, so they got a starring role in the ceph pics, although I felt bad about using the flash...

I did also get to see Thales' Wonderpus and cuttles! Soooo coool. But he takes much better photos than I do, so I'll leave that to him.

Hey Kat!

Welcome home!

Do you have the pic of us in front of the Zebra?

BTW, I go in next week to do 'safety training' so I can feed those nautis!

It was very fun to see you!
