bimaculiodes or bimaculatus?

So...this question I have here has been stuck in my head and it's driving me insane. The question is how do you distinguish the difference between bimaculiodes-----Californian Two spot octopus and bimaculatus-----Verrill's two spot octopus? If there are differences except knowing that they're from California, I'd love to know. I deeply appreciate you guys, and I'm glad I ever made an account on this site in the first place.

Reportedly, the bimaculatus eyespot looks like a starburst whereas the bimaculoides eyespot looks like a blue ring.

The most obvious difference is egg size. Bimaculatus is a small egged species; Bimaculoides is a large egged species. The integrity of the blue rings is also a good cue.

Oh yes, yes, yes..I have (sorry) heard of the egg size difference before but thank you for the info.
