Hey all, first time poster here
I've been looking into cuttlefish husbandry, doing a lot of reading about setting up the tank and everything. I have Colin + Nancy's book "Cephalopods: Octopuses and Cuttlefish for the Home Aquarium" Wonderful resource. Just trying to educate myself as much as possible. I'm still very much in the planning stage.
Anyway, I'm kind of in a unique position in that I live in South Korea, and cuttlefish is a very popular and pretty common food. I'm thinking when it comes time to buy the little critter, I shouldn't have much trouble locating eggs or at least a young specimen.
The thing is, the species I will be able to get will probably not be s. bandensis or s. officinalis. Doing some research, I narrowed it down to 3 likely species - S. kobiensis, S. andreana, and S. esculenta. Here's some info on each:
S. kobiensis (avg. length 7cm)
http://www.zen-ika.com/zukan/en/cs007.html?idx=2
http://www.sealifebase.fisheries.ubc.ca/summary/speciessummary.php?id=57150
S. andreana (max length 12cm)
http://www.zen-ika.com/zukan/en/cs006.html?idx=2
http://www.sealifebase.fisheries.ub...ID=57848&genusname=Sepia&speciesname=andreana
S. esculenta (max length 18cm)
http://www.zen-ika.com/zukan/en/cs004.html?idx=2
http://www.sealifebase.fisheries.ub...D=57147&genusname=Sepia&speciesname=esculenta
I guess my question is, does anyone have any experience with these species? Any help will be greatly appreciated
