Tusoteuthis gladius

The arrow shaped fossil accompanying the ammonite is a example of a gladius of Tusoteuthis, a late Cretaceous period giant squid. The gladius is a structure used give the body of the squid intenal support. This particular specimen is about 75cm long and is housed in the University of Kansas Collection.
