sensitive tests for copper

since it so frequently comes up that copper in very low quantities is a problem for cephs, it occurred to me that perhaps, even though standard tests for aquariums aren't sensitive enough, that other fields might have tests that are.

I found this somewhat promising abstract:

http://www.onemine.org/search/summa...22DAFD008FF30159557522881&fullText=extracting cooper

but I don't know how 4ppm compares to the levels the aquarium kits can detect (yes, I could probably find it quickly on google but yes, I'm a lazy git.)

I'm thinking of asking around my chemist friends to see if there are standard laboratory test to detect small quantities of copper, too.

Any chemist types have any thoughts?

Most of the aquarium test kits test lower than that. IO has a range of 0-0.25mg/L (ppm) and API 0-4.0 mg/L. But the real question is how sensitive they are at the very low end of their range. The LaMotte has a range of 0.05-1.0 ppm, so is going to be a lot more sensitive. But the LD50 of copper for cephs may be around 0.01 ppm.
