This small ;) - 6 or 7 kilos - giant pacific octopus was making his way from a drying tidepool to the ocean's edge when we encountered it. The octopus had been in a tidepool on a rock reef. It appears that it was motivated to find the ocean's edge as the tidepool was draining and possibly heating from the sun. We watched him travel from the tidepool to the water - a distance of 50 to 70 meters - at an almost walking pace. The location was Gray Bay, on Moresby Island (Queen Charlotte Islands), SE of Sandspit, BC, Canada. Check out www.octopus-diver.com for more octopus pics.
