      This vampyromorph dates from the late Jurassic and comes from the Solnhofen deposits in Germany. This 'teuthid' is distinguished by its long tapering gladius with a distinctive cone at the head end of the animal. This animal has no direct modern decendants though its closest living relative is the Vampire Squid. This particular branch is not believed to have survived the Jurassic.
