The time lapsed crab molt video from the shrimp link was really amazing.

Kevin, you keep pushing for these guys to show up SOMEWHERE in the live state

I want to know what they looked like, I've been guessing too long.

We could write a new paper "Ammonites for the Home Aquarist."

Yes! I would even break down and go out and buy an aquarium and learn to keep salt water critters alive.

Wouldn't baby ammonites be adorable? Baby Nautilus are really cute. The breeding of ammonites, hmmm...

I can imagine a few thousand small eggs clouding the water of an aquarium.

Do you have a Brachiopod Hajar? I find a lot of those as fossils!

Ohh, I forgot that I used to have a brachiopod (Lingula, I think). That was many decades ago... It shell was bluish-green. It didn't last long in a closed system, before protein skimmers...

So were all ammonites small egged species? I found this article http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/1...133.x/abstract.

Hajar, sorry for derailing this thread, your cuttlefish is really beautiful.

what a strange creature, are they found everywhere or specific to a body of water?

    Ramses the hunter.

Here's the beast deeply focused on the rather large crab he's in the process of consuming.

I think it's a good thing for these threads to follow whatever connections turn up.

I don't have a live brachiopod and have never even seen a live one, but here's a very old (Early Cambrian) ancestor for your Lingulas cuttlegirl, complete with pedicle.

    Quite cool, hey?

Cuttlegirl's "Ammonites for the Home Aquarist" reminded me of something:

“All the leading conservationists insist on Rory’s KLO-RID the purist yttrium chloride made for control of ammonites in swimming pools and natural waters”,
from “No Monsters for Mary”, The Vanishing Press, 1970. (I don't have the original, but wonder if it should be "purest" rather than "purist")
