Its been acclimating for about 4 hours now and im almost ready to put it in. how do I get it out of the bucket without puttting the bucket in the tank?
See if he will climb into a jar or net? I always kept them in the bag and once acclimated in the bucket, poured out most of the water from the bag, put the bag in the tank and let them come out at their leisure.
I tried pushin it in the water with the net but it wouldnt let go of the bucket. now the whole 5 gallon bucket is in the tank
He'll come out of the bucket when he's ready, then grab out the bucket so it doesn't become a den if you don't what it in there. It won't take long for the tank to become more interesting. Give him lower lighting for this first night to help him settle in!

ok thanks. the bucket is in there upsidedown with about 5 inches from the bottom. should he be out by the morning?
Just got him into the tank now after wrestling with him for a while. Im going away for the weekend so ill get some pics up when i get back and theres plenty of hermits and snails if it gets hungry
Hey my mom told me to name shiva, ursula (the sea witch from the little mermaid) but it was too late. I think it's a really good name.

Thanks! I think im stuck between matsuflex (a funny name of some guy on the show tool academy) just because my friend and i thought it was funny,flex for short, or neptune. Not the best names I know but its all I got haha.
What one do you guys, and girls, think I should go with!

I just got back from vaccacion and it still hasent gone down yet from what I can tell or made a den yet. Is this a problem? the only thing that I have is frozen silversides untill I go out tommorow. Should I try feeding him some?

Well I think if you still have those live hermits in there that should be fine. I would try the dead stuff when he starts interacting with you. I don't know about the den thing.
It was still hanging on the wall with it's mouth on the water line so I tried feeding it some thawed silversides but it spit them out. I droped a hermit crab in it's mouth too but it just spit it out. If I throw in feeder crabs will it even go after them since it's been on the glass the whole time?
I've noticed little piles of rubble have been appearing all around the tank but I still havent seen it come off the glass yet. its still plastered to the tank in the same corner as usual. should I be worried by now?
The behavior is unusual but Carol's current hummelincki insists on staying on the tank wall and has been fine. Note, however, hummelincki is naturally diurnal.

Ill try the feeder crabs from my lfs before I order some fiddlers. I'm a little disappointed though, I expected to see at least some personality but its just been a blob on the glass for about 2 weeks now. I cant tell if I am doing something wrong or thats just how it is. Hopefully I will get more of a response from it when I try feeding it the crabs.
