Dont octopus die after laying eggs? Sum1 on another site caught an octopus, then put it in their 60G tank, and it laid eggs.. theyre "going to raise the population, and release them to the wild".

Whats your take??

usually, the mother stops eating when brooding, and dies about the same time the eggs hatch. There is a little variability, but it she's laid eggs, she hasn't got much time left, I'm afraid.

They might or might not be able to raise all the hatchliings - it's almost impossible when you have a small-eggged species, and even with an octopus that lays large-sized eggs, it's difficult.
