Fun effort  Animal Mother Jan 4th, 2007, 09:48am Crazy stuff. Thanks for the link. Tintenfisch Jan 4th, 2007, 02:42pm I think Phil started a brief discussion of it here (http://www.tonmo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1084&highlight=Balaenateuthia) a few years back? Still waaaaaay cool. 8-) bigGdelta Jan 4th, 2007, 09:35pm those are some freaky squid, love the bit about great ktulhu main_board Jan 5th, 2007, 06:15pm It scares me how odd a "Baleen squid" sounds, and yet how realistic they look. I almost wouldn't be surprised if one washed up. And the site lays out the potential evolutionary pathway so it seems almost guarenteed to happen. Crazy! :bugout: Cheers! cephalopodcast Jan 5th, 2007, 07:56pm I stumbled across (http://cephalopodcast.com/blog/2006/12/22/speculative-biology-of-the-baleen-squids/) this site a couple weeks ago. It reminds me a lot of the work of Dougal Dixon (http://www.dougal-dixon.co.uk/bio.html), especially his book, After Man (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/After_Man:_A_Zoology_of_the_Future). But top navigation on the Speculative Dinosaur site seems broken and hasn't been updated since 2005. Anyone know what happened to it? |
