View Full Version : Bimac Siblings - who has zyan_silver's bimacs?
Nancy Dec 5th, 2006, 01:08pm Hi everyone,
Please report in here if you've bought or will be buying one (or more) of zyan_silver's bimacs. We had a group of bimac siblings from Octopets a few years ago and it was fun to track them through their lives. So I'll keep a list if you'll let me know who has them.

DHyslop Dec 5th, 2006, 01:51pm Mine comes from Zyan.
Perhaps we should all start keeping track of temperatures, too. We can see if the bimacs with the coldest tanks do indeed live the longest.
Brock Fluharty Dec 5th, 2006, 04:42pm I got mine today! Lovely little bugger, active, swimming all around the bowl I acclimated him in, and he even squirted water at the sides of the bowl several times. He has a magnificent mottled brown/grayish green coloration. My temperature is at 69*F.
Brock Fluharty Dec 5th, 2006, 06:53pm Oops!!!!!
I was playing with the octopus, putting my finger near him to see if he would come closer, and he did. He kinda jumped on me, and it scared me to death. Soooooo...I kinda jerked back, and he inked twice. it was just a small amount, and the skimmer/filter got it. He's just a little shaken right now. He's actually tortuing his food items. He's going around burying snails, hermit, and these big sw crabs that Zyan sent. Evil little thing, lol. ;)
Zeus Zoso Dec 7th, 2006, 11:23pm I've got 4 of them in 72 degree water.
caz2022 Dec 8th, 2006, 12:18am Just ordered two of them
Can't wait!!!!
steveboo Dec 9th, 2006, 06:58pm Hello all,
This is my first post here on TONMO. I have talked to Zyan about getting one of his Bimacs, but I am worried about the shipping from California to here in Pennsylvania. The tempature has been dropping into the 20's here at night. So my question is do you think it will survive the trip? Are Bimacs good shippers? Sorry if this is a little off topic.
Thanks ,Steve
corw314 Dec 9th, 2006, 07:09pm :welcome: Steve!
I just received my Bimac, Spike, from Zyan on Friday and I live in New Jersey so Pa should not be a problem at all. I had mine delivered to my work, so he was in the box from Thurs. morn till around 3:30 Friday and is doing beautifully so far!
And tank temp is 72. I dripped for almost an hour. His water was cold when he arrived but the raise to 72 has not seemed to affect him at all. I think the key point here is NOT to rush acclimation.
steveboo Dec 9th, 2006, 07:31pm Hey thanks, Ok you sold me I will order one tonight!!!!
DHyslop Dec 9th, 2006, 07:41pm Zyan also does a good job insulating the packaging.
cuttlegirl Dec 9th, 2006, 09:23pm :welcome: Steveboo, fellow Pittsburgher, glad to see you found your way to TONMO!
monty Dec 9th, 2006, 10:00pm :welcome: and I look forward to hearing about your octo!
caz2022 Dec 10th, 2006, 12:37am Well now I have to cut my order back to just one. My 55 FOWLR is out of comission-cracked!! Now I know why mom always said "NO ball in the house!!". Turns out my 2 year old daughter has quite an arm. Can't be upset though-it was MY idea to play.

Tell me about it! Fastest breakdown in history!
Well my new Bimac arrived yesterday. He appears to have handled his trip cross-country just fine. After a nice slow drip,I killed all the lights in the livingroom and put him in his new home. He swam to the bottom, inked a bit twice, and slipped under a rock in the back of the tank. This morning he'd moved under a different rock facing the front of the tank. I'll post some pictures as soon as he settles in. Oh,I almost forgot, his name is Sla'nesh (any 40K'ers out there?).
Nancy Dec 13th, 2006, 06:02pm Congratulations and welcome to Sla'nesh the bimac.
I'd appreciate knowing what state you live in and the temperature of Sla'nesh's tank so that I can add this information to the List of Our Octopuses.

Indiana OCHO Dec 13th, 2006, 06:41pm I have one coming, but it is currently lost in California. I hope Fedex finds it soon. I hate the thought of them trapped in the box and stuck on a conveyor belt somewhere.
DHyslop Dec 13th, 2006, 07:46pm Go to FedEx's page and look through their fine print. I think Express Overnight orders are guaranteed.
Indiana OCHO Dec 13th, 2006, 08:17pm We have talked several times today. They found the box but it won't get here till tomorrow afternoon now. My biggest concern is that the octo's make it. There is one for me and three for some friends. Anyway, I will be following up with Fedex, but if they are alive when they get here I will be too happy to fight with them over it.
caz2022 Dec 14th, 2006, 05:18pm Thanks Nancy-Sla'nesh gives you a wave.
I'm in Buffalo,New York. His tank is being held a steady 70 degrees.
He's still being a bit shy now,but I'll post some pics ASAP. He has officially moved into a nice shell as of last night.
Congratulations and welcome to Sla'nesh the bimac.
I'd appreciate knowing what state you live in and the temperature of Sla'nesh's tank so that I can add this information to the List of Our Octopuses.

steveboo Dec 14th, 2006, 08:52pm Hello all,
Well I finally got my Bimac on tuesday from Zyan, All I can say is Zyan "YOU DA MAN".He did a great job of packing and he even gave me some crabs and snails to start feeding him. He was a little shy the first day,but today I see empty snail and crab shells outside his den,He must have gotten hungry last night. I think his name will be "Stretch",Tank temp is 74 right now I will add a fan to try and get it down to 70 to 72 range.

corw314 Dec 14th, 2006, 09:44pm Any update on the lost fedex?
marinerules Mar 15th, 2007, 10:19pm how big are these octopus from him
How mahy did he have
I would love to get another seeing as there is ag ood chance out there that he still has more ,
but i now have fish in my 240 and the only other tank I have right now is a 55 and its not set up yet, I would have to borrow sand and water from my 240 , and I'm not sure on how that would work with an octo , as Last time had my tank up for a long while before getting them
DHyslop Mar 15th, 2007, 10:29pm I thought that--after trying a number of them--you didn't like having octopuses in your tanks?
sorseress Mar 16th, 2007, 01:12am You know the drill. Get it set up properly then cycle for 3 months. There probably won't be any of Zyan's bimacs left by then though, and if there are they would be pretty old.
marinerules Mar 17th, 2007, 04:27pm they bored me then cause I had LOTS of time to watch them and I wanted them to be active all the time , now , im kept busy and I would have time to watch them, when its time to feed them ,
I had my ups and downs with them , but they are very intresting creatures.
Colin Mar 17th, 2007, 07:00pm :(
This is logic?
marinerules Mar 18th, 2007, 12:00pm cant wait to get another one
im fixing to be buying a 120 later
so now I have a 240
a 55 , and going to be having a 120 tank
DHyslop Mar 18th, 2007, 12:20pm Kirtis, I don't think you'll find many people here who think its in an animal's best interest to be owned by you. You have a long record of buying them as novelties, neglecting their needs and growing bored with them when they don't fulfill your expectations.
marinerules Mar 18th, 2007, 01:34pm i assume you just not reply to anything I post
for one , you know nothing of teh animals best intrest in my care, I have kept several of these creatures successfully for a long while
they are took good care of ,
Large tank, Large Protein skimmer, filters, live rock the whole works , where others on here buy them an put them in a 20 gallon tank ,
maybe you should tell them , that its not in their best intrest instead of mine ,
Im going to always keep one here or there and I would like to have a place, which happens to be here to post my pictures and discuss this topic,
Im sorry if that offends you , but , you have no right telling me that I cant care for one , when I have indeed kept them successfully , whether or not I get bored with them
its not like I kiilled the one I got bored with , just because I got bored with it ,
It lived 7 months approx ,
I just happened to get 2 octos in a role that were extremely shy
Brock Fluharty Mar 18th, 2007, 08:24pm But if you get bored with something, you tend to forget about it, and you may forget to feed it, and take proper care of it. Maybe get some damsels? Or a goldfish? Or no pets...?
marinerules Mar 18th, 2007, 10:19pm No , i will be getting a bimac
but it will be a little while yet, taxes are coming up , and since i was self employed with family buisness ,well , I pay taxes in once a year lol
