Luanne has a little pink octopus puppet in her Manger Babies show.

Another new one, Jack Black to the evolution of octopuses nostrils in three or less?
:?:

um...
Sep 17th, 2003, 11:04pm
Jack Black was with Jason Alexander in Shallow Hal
George Costanza was a "Marine Biologist", once.

NickA5582
Sep 17th, 2003, 11:06pm
Arrrrrrrgh, you must've watched Seinfeld tonight too.

um...
Sep 17th, 2003, 11:09pm
"And with evolution, the octopus lost the nostrils and took on the look we know today." Or somesuch. I've seen it half a dozen times, but not recently.

um...
Sep 17th, 2003, 11:12pm
This might be sorta easy:

Clint Howard

This guy just doesn't get his name in print often enough.

Arrrrrrrgh, you must've watched Seinfeld tonight too.

Don't we all? :D Unfortunately, I don't remember a single reference to Cephs on any episode of SEINFELD, and I'm pretty sure I've seen every one of them (including the one they're not supposed to show in re-runs anymore because it is considered ethnically offensive, about the Puerto Rican Day Parade). The Marine Biologist episode dealt with Costanza removing a golf ball (Kramer's?) from a beached whale's blowhole, didn't it? I didn't see the re-run last night, so perhaps I've forgotten over time.

On the other hand, you can do nice three-degree sequence starting with Jason Alexander:

- Jason was in PRETTY WOMAN with Richard Gere
- Richard Gere was in CHICAGO with Queen Latifah
- Queen Latifah was in SPHERE which featured a computer-simulated "virtual Archi"
Speaking of which, anyone wanna try Wayne "Newman" Knight as a starter?

:?:

um...
Sep 17th, 2003, 11:25pm
Wayne Knight in Basic Instinct with Michael Douglas
yadda, yadda... 20,000 Leagues

NickA5582
Sep 18th, 2003, 05:29pm
Clint Howard was in Goldmember
As was Gweneth Paltrow as Dixie Normis
Gwenith was in Shallow Hal with Jason Alexander
Jason is George, the marine biologist.

Yeah. That's the shortest path I could think of, but I have a feeling it can be done in even fewer steps.

NickA5582

Love that one. Isn't the one where Susan dies from envelopes banned too? (Anthrax)

Anyway, another new one. Pee wee herman in three degrees or less. ( It's easy)

TaningiaDanae

Anyway, another new one. Pee wee herman in three degrees or less. ( It's easy)

Piece o' cake:

- Paul "Pee Wee Herman" Reubens was in BLOW with Johnny Depp

- Johnny was in ED WOOD with Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi

- The real Bela Lugosi, the rubber :octopus: .... you know the drill :D
Here's my Wayne Knight solution:

- Wayne Knight played the cop boyfriend of Kristen Johnston ("Sally") in the sitcom 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN

- Kristen Johnston played "Ivana Humpalot" in THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME whose female lead was Heather Graham

- Heather Graham starred in FROM HELL with Johnny Depp

- [see solution above]

I love these -- keep 'em coming!

:)

TaningiaDanae
Sep 18th, 2003, 09:43pm
Hey, I just thought of another, two-degree solution to the Pee Wee Herman puzzle, including a Ceph movie that no one's submitted yet:

- Paul Reubens was in MYSTERY MEN with Native American actor Wes Studi

- Wes Studi was in "tentacle turkey" DEEP RISING
(I haven't rented the latter yet, but I heard about it from a friend who is a member of the Wes Studi Fan Club, and even she thought it stunk!)

:P

NickA5582
Sep 19th, 2003, 05:18pm
Neither were the ones I was looking for, Tani.

Pee Wee and Cowbuy Curtis
Cowboy Curtis was in The Matrix
Little, many armed robots were called Squiddies. :heee:

Gordon Jump

NickA5582
Sep 23rd, 2003, 09:53pm
Gordon Jump - A dogs Tale - Finola Hughs
Finola Hughs - Intrepid - James Coburn
James Coburn was in Monsters Inc. By Disney
Disney also made finding Nemo which had a little pink octo who inked herself.

TaningiaDanae
Sep 24th, 2003, 04:30pm
RIP Gordon Jump

Let's try this:

- Gordon was in the sitcom WKRP IN CINCINNATI with Tim Reid

- Tim Reid was in the sitcom SISTER, SISTER with Jackée Harry

- Jackée Harry was in the sitcom 227, which once had Paul Reubens as a guest star (Paul and Jackée ostensibly were dating in real life too, but this is unproven)
From Paul Reubens, proceed via one of these routes:

- Paul was in BLOW with Johnny Depp

- Johnny was in ED WOOD with Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi

- The real Bela wrestled a real fake rubber Octopus in a real Ed Wood movie
OR:

- Paul was in MYSTERY MEN with Wes Studi

- Wes was in DEEP RISING with a tentacled monster (or monsters)
Are we having fun, or what?

:D

um...
Sep 26th, 2003, 07:32pm
Are we having fun, or what?

I know I am. :D

I was expecting someone to come up with the Gordon Jump in Seinfeld answer, but yours (and Nick's) were much more interesting. To bad Deep Rising had to make its way in there. (shudder)

How 'bout a tough one? Anyone? Anyone?

How 'bout a tough one? Anyone? Anyone?

OK, but it isn't really that tough if you've been to the movies (or seen any previews) within the past few days:

THE ROCK in two degrees

WhiteKiboko
Sep 26th, 2003, 10:27pm
dwayne johnson with christopher walken in rundown
walken with desmond llewelyn in a view to a kill

THE ROCK in two degrees

Well I haven't, so it is for me. I have a pretty short way, but I know it's not what you had in mind:

-Dwayne appeared in an episode of That '70s Show which stars Mila Kunis
-Mila Kunis did the voice of Meg Griffin in Family Guy
-in one of the episodes in the first season of Family Guy there was a giant squid living in the Griffins' house (the one with Norm Macdonald as Death?)

Man I'm clueless.

WhiteKiboko
Sep 26th, 2003, 10:37pm
good one.... i couldnt remember which episode that was..... i think there is one in which stewie becomes an octo, but such discusssions belong in simpsons or animation threads....

one note though, norm only did one show as death, adam carrola did two in the same role....after listening to them, they actually sound somewhat alike...

um...
Sep 26th, 2003, 10:54pm
one note though, norm only did one show as death, adam carrola did two in the same role...

Yeah, and that always bothered me. I thought Norm was terrific in that first one, and I was a bit let down by the switch. Stewie becomes an octo in the post-apocalyptic Twinkie factory episode, no?

Just to keep this post on-topic, how about:

Malcolm McDowell

That probably won't be too hard.

NickA5582
Sep 26th, 2003, 11:04pm
This is a bit of a stretch but

Malcolm appeared in South Park as himself as a British person

George Plimpton worked with Johnny Depp, can't remember what movie, Tani explains the rest since I am too lazy too.

-

- Johnny was in ED WOOD with Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi

- The real Bela Lugosi, the rubber :octopus: .... you know the drill :D

How about Adam Sandler? (also easy.)

um...
Sep 27th, 2003, 01:12pm
George Plimpton was in GWH with Robin Williams, who was in Popeye.

The first Adam Sandler association that comes to mind is:

-Sandler in Happy Gilmore with Richard Kiel(sp?)
-Kiel was Jaws in The Spy Who Loved Me with Roger Moore
-Moore in Octopussy

That's the best I can do with no sleep.

Cant do it in two but

The Rock is in The Rundown with Sean William Scott
Sean William Scott was in Dude Where's My Car with Ashton Kutcher
Ashton Kutcher was in Just Married with Brittany Murphy

NickA5582
Sep 28th, 2003, 02:21pm

dwayne johnson with christopher walken in rundown

Good work, WK, though I haven't seen VIEW TO A KILL. Here's what I had in mind for The People's Champ:

- Dwayne Johnson was in THE RUNDOWN with Rosario Dawson

- Rosario Dawson was in MEN IN BLACK II with a multi-tentacled dominatrix from outer space (played by Lara Flynn Boyle)
The late, great George Plimpton is easier for me because I've got a bit of an advantage:

- George's sister-in-law (by his first marriage) is Joanna Espy

- Joanna Espy is a friend of mine

- And no, neither of them were ever in my kitchen :D

- I am a member of TONMO
Joanna's buddy (who hasn't seen her in a long time),

TaningiaDanae
Sep 28th, 2003, 04:54pm
BORED again..... how another vey crappy movie that 9 people saw, Gigli?

Let's see now:

- GIGLI minus L equals GIGI

- One of the stars of GIGI was Maurice Chevalier

- Maurice Chevalier was a Nazi collaborator ("That sweet old man?" Unfortunately, yes.... :( )

- The Nazis used the Octopus as a propaganda symbol for "the international Jewish-Masonic conspiracy"
No good? OK, you can't blame me -- like you said, only about 9 people in the world actually saw GIGLI (which is about 7 more than the ones who saw BOXING HELENA, but that's another story).

Just funnin' with ya,
The Tanster

NickA5582
Sep 28th, 2003, 06:58pm
Nope,

Ben Affleck was in Gigli
Ben Affleck was in Daredevil with Jennifer Garner
Jennifer Garner was in Dude, Where's My Car with Ashton Kutcher
Ashton and Brittany Murphy in Just Married
Brittany's pink and purple spotted octopus on King of the Hill.

Now, From Justin To Kelly? (should be a bit harder, 3 people saw it, none of them did it of their own free will.)

um...
Sep 28th, 2003, 09:15pm
Justin and Kelly from American Idol? :yuck:

The (mostly) early '80s version:

-Paula Abdul from Idol was married to Emilio Esteves (I think)
-Estevez is Martin Sheen's son
-Martin Sheen was in The Dead Zone with Christopher Walken
-Walken was in A View to a Kill with Roger Moore
-Moore was in Octopussy

um...

Charles Grodin - So I Married An Axe Murderer - Mike Myers

Roger Moore was in The Spy Who Loved Me

R. Lee Ermey

Due to the family nature of the board, please resist the urge to add some of his more memorable quotes... :)

um...
Sep 29th, 2003, 10:00pm
Lee Ermey, how can you not love that guy. Here's 2 ways:

-Ermey did the voice for the army men sergeant in Toy Story 2, in which Wayne Knight did the voice for Al
-Wayne Knight was Newman on Seinfeld with Jason Alexander who played George Costanza who pretended to be a marine biologist who talked about octopus nostrils

or

-I'm fairly certain Ermey did a voice on Family Guy (in the episode where Peter trains to be a knight at the Renaissance Fair?)
-Stewie turns into an octopus-type thing in the episode "Da Boom"

In Minnesota we have this amazingly stupid station called PAX with a stupid show called Doc, where the doctor has a mullet
PAX also airs The Weakest link which previously was on NBC till it got cancelled
George and Jerry did a pilot for NBC in Seinfeld yada yada yada octopus nostrils.

Again, MORE

"Doc"?... [searching the IMDB] ... Oh, with my archnemesis Billy Ray Cyrus (where's the 'projectile vomit' emoticon?). Glad I had no idea what you were talking about, Nick. Mind if I give it a try, kinda after the fact:

-Cyrus :yuck: was in Mul(let)holland Dr. with Naomi Watts
-Watts was in Tank Girl with Lori Petty
-Petty was in Point Break with Keanu Reeves
-Reeves was in The Matrix with the 'squiddies' (sentinels)

or

1) The Smurfs had Paul Witchell as the voice of Gargamel (ok i used Google for this one)

2) Paul Witchell was the original voice of Tigger in several Pooh movies (oh, ok, I saw this on a Google search too)

3) Tigger appears in Disney's recent flick, Piglet's Big Movie

4) Carly Simon appears at the end of Piglet's Big Movie singing one of her great songs for that movie

5) Carly Simon was married to singer James Taylor

6) James Taylor's first album was on Apple records, owned by The Beatles

7) The Beatles released the song Octopus' Garden on Abbey Road

Mine too. Too many musicals back in the day, or something.

Back on topic. Since it's Sunday (for some of us), how about:

Terry Bradshaw :yuck:
(preferably without using Howie Long)

(Please tell me we haven't done him.)

-Bridges in Blown Away with Tommy Lee Jones
-Jones in MIB

Who will be the next member of the Predator cast to hold gubernatorial office? My money's on Carl Weathers for governor of Louisiana. Until then, would anyone care to link him to a ceph in six degrees or fewer?

I dunno, i see Carl more as a congressman....the the guy who played 'billy' in the movie ran a year or two ago, but i dont think he won....

carl weathers with dolph lundgren in rocky 4
dolph was in a view to a kill with roger moore
octopussy

at the time lundgren was the boyfriend of grace jones...(initially he had been her bodyguard)

this opens another path...

carl and arnie in predator
arnie and grace in coanan the destroyer
you know the rest

WK,

Two one-shots for Statham:

In "Below," Statham walks beneath a dead squid hanging from the submarine's inner-hull.

And then, there's "Deep Rising," in which Statham gets hoovered up by a Scylla.

How about Sting?
