OK, I haven't seen one of these in a while, so here is a gate.

Supposedly this is a hotel, or bed and breakfast, or whatever in Florida.

Your action Needed...

OK, some of you may or may not remember the monstrously beautiful handle that I posted on page 2 (http://www.tonmo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7381&page=2) of this thread.

Well I have recently bought a special seahorse handle for a friend for Christmas. Like me, she loves the ocean, but well, she prefers seahorses (there's no accounting for taste). See the Sea Horse handle in a pair below. They have a yellow protective covering on them for shipping as they are brass to keep them from tarnishing.

The problem was with the tentacle handle was that it was a whopping $1,200. Where as the Sea Horse was a whole $79. $79 I can afford. $1,200 and I don't eat for a couple of months. I spoke to them about making an octopus tentacle handle and they are researching it now. Their prices range to about $129. Please contact them and let them know that you too would like this handle and let's see if we can get them to make us some for a group buy.

Her name is Patricia Michalski and the company is Eastern Elegance. You can email her here (eastern@bluemoon.net).

OK,

I got one of these for Christmas and I love it. The guy I got it from sells them for 14.99 plus shipping. He has converted the old record into a cd and you can play it or copy it to your computer's player.

What makes me most happy is the cd's jewel case. He converted it all to fit the jewel case and now I have the modern version of good old time fun. It has all the voices of the original cast and is just plain fun.

If you want one, email him and he'll get you one too. His email is micheal@mmsiso.com.

OK, has anyone seen my baster?

If that one wasn't bad (or good) enough, let's look at this one. The mantle is the rubber dome in which suction is created.

Just one more piece showing that we are slowly reaching the outer world.

OK,

So here's another door handle. This one's from www.tritonhardware.com (http://www.tritonhardware.com).

No idea how much it is yet. Still cool though. I am not always crazy about a patina, but this is way cool.

OK, so at Martymagic.com (http://www.martymagic.com), they have this.

Eaxtly what it is, I am not sure. the pic was not big enough, but it describes it as a hook that can hold keys and such.

No, I can't, you see I have a never ending quest for these things that are most often well, WELL outside of my price range.

oops - I started to put the napkins here and didn't really want to start a new post but they weren't "furniture" and I do try sooo hard not to be disruptive . I promise to behave better in the future :fingerscrossed:

I did go read on the door. It was a custom insert into an antique door - definitely on my lottery winnings want to have one made list but with all eight arms.

But do it with the pic and link so people can make the jump right there. That way, the more ceph stuff we buy, the more they make.

For those of you who want to see his 'octo napkins' from Pottery Barn, here they are (http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/mt580/index.cfm?clg=59&bnrid=3580501&cm_ven=Shopping.com&cm_cat=Shopping&cm_pla=Home%20page&cm_ite=Datafeed&flash=on&cm_ref=http%3A//www.mysimon.com/5/octopus-ring.html).

Thank you for your inquiry. The artists do use the lost wax process and also do commission work. The octopus door pull is $850.00 each. We can produce multiple orders if needed.

OK,

I have had some questions so I will revisit these. Knobs and pulls are one of my favorite things to find a really good ceph in because I can make any mundane piece of furniture with a handle of any sort into my Submariner's Lair. The ooohs and aaahs I get when people finally notice them are always worth it.

There are several places to go. www.decoknob.com (http://www.decoknob.com) has a set of octo knobs that are preety lame, but www.knobdeco.com (http://www.knobdeco.com) (Don't ask) has some beautiful stuff.

The brass pull is from Castofcharacters which I normally only find on ebay from time to time, and the small brass octopus knob is off ebay as well.

Darn,
I am looking for an octo handle for the black plexi hood on the new tank (we are going to add a hing of some sort so it does not have to be removed to get into the tank - terrible original design) and I really like the pair on the bottom left but buying them would double what I paid for the tank!

I ordered and swear I received the middle one but have searched for two years and still can't find it.

I wish I had a place for that 2" tile on the second page of the listing - too cute but still elegant

I have a few items that could go in here such as these:

One is a clock with one of our favorites come to play, and the other looks like a stuffed toy, but it's a rocker.

Donnerboy
May 9th, 2008, 11:19am
This really makes me think.

We are always finding stuff, but they are all piece-meal. Every once in a while I will do a grouping kind of like with the knobs and the nursery stuff here on these last two pages so that we can see a grouping all at once of what we have found so far.

Now what to start with?

Donnerboy
May 9th, 2008, 11:23am
How about the bathroom?

We'll start with a tub stopper, a scrubber (can also be in the Kitchen section), a holder for shampoos and such, and Oliva: which I think is a soap dispenser). No, she is in fact soap that degrades to a skeleton.

Donnerboy
May 9th, 2008, 11:25am
These next are all holders.

One is a towel, one is for toilet paper, one is for soap in the same style, ad the last is of course soap, but more for kids.

Donnerboy
May 9th, 2008, 11:29am
Now here we have more kids stuff.

These are all in the same style: a liquid soap dispenser, a bar soap holder, and a toothbrush holder.

Finally we also have the Squid Soap dispenser which teaches children to wash thoroughly by placing a small squid ink dot on their hand, and it requires them to wash until it's gone.

Donnerboy
May 9th, 2008, 11:33am
Now maybe I should title these Ceph Furniture ...GUEST Bathroom.

Soap molds. In our quest, we cannot over look custom work such as these... Besides, craft stores have soap making supplies from the very simple to the complex. It can be a Saturday project for the kids or whatever.

I have some bath stuff to add.

The blue one is just a stick-on bath decoration (suction cup on the back); the red one is a propeller-driven bath toy (takes 2 AA batteries and actually works pretty well!); the white one is one of a set of non-slip octos that work like a bath mat on the floor of the tub (if you can get over their expressions... understandable considering their view most of the time ), and the silver one is a soap dish. I used to have a bath plug too - plain black rubber plug with a floating blue octo attached by a chain, but I can't find it.

D,

This is great. It's very Japanesey though, with the mouth all puckered up like that. Maybe when the Japanese look at a ceph, they like to anthropomorph the jet into a mouth. I am not sure, but the netsuki I own always have them puckered just like that.

~W

dwhatley
May 27th, 2008, 10:10pm
I have noticed the same thing about all the Japanese octos, especially the netsuki's and I have very few that have this configuration. Worse, I have since seen replications of the style that are not Japanese. I am sure there is some reason they turned the siphon into a mouth. My guess is that someone realized the error but had made too many things that way so it became a lucky configuration (there is a thing about elephants trunks like that - can't remember the rules though).

Yep, the base is a stamp, about 1" diameter, although the ink is so faded that I couldn't take a picture of the actual stamp on paper. However, I when looking for another one like it online (think I got it at the Museum Victoria in Melbourne) I discovered that there are heaps of others... like
this one (http://216.139.230.234/store/product1.aspx?Product_ID=4700), this one (http://www.fistfulofstamps.com/proddetail.asp?prod=C532&cat=22), this one (http://www.krittersinthemailbox.com/animals/octopus/rubberstamp.htm), this one (http://www.goreydetails.net/show.php?alpha=5269), this one (http://www.artneko.com/displayItem/P041-HA09), this one in the netsuke siphon-mouth theme (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=10085198), and this personalized address one on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/OCTOPUS---KRAKE---RUBBER-STAMP-with-YOUR-ADDRESS_W0QQitemZ330239595321QQcmdZViewI tem?IMSfp=TL0805281034a4685)! There's also this Canadian postage stamp (http://www.pibburns.com/cryptost/kraken.htm) (along with all the other Kraken-themed postage stamps ever, listed below it).

So there's some more stationery. Still searching for the bath plug at home...

I like this (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_6&listing_id=16911227)one even MORE! UNFORTUNATELY, my toilets are all dark and it would never show.

These (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_18&listing_id=16124734) are cool too! Great Find Donnerboy, I am going to write to see if they can do them in grey or white. They even have sharks but that bath has a black toilet and, of course the ones shown are black.

Wouldn't this look great on an aquarium???

OK, so my girlfriend who has learned to embrace this passion of mine sent me this (http://freespiritfabric.com/core-pages/gallery.php?gal_id=152&sw_id=1495).

It is a company who makes a number of differing octo fabrics.

the name of the company is Freespiritfabric.com, and the line of fabrics is called Mendocino.

I saw that when I was looking for some material but, try as I would, none of the color combinations (I think there are 3) worked where I wanted to put it.

If anyone ever sees adult ceph wallpaper border PLEASE post a link. I would like to do my 1/2 bath in cephs but won't renovate until I can find a serious border.

Dang!

I have never done searches for wallpaper. I have seen ceph tiles for bathrooms and such, which I have posted here. Still not wallpaper.

The hunt is on...

with all the "Do it yourself with homemade stuff" Boom...

Have you ever thought of making your own homemade wallpaper? If you're just making a border, it could be that expensive, and I am sure there's a site on the "How to".

I liked the octopus fabric so much (a few posts back) that I ordered some and a friend who is an excellent quilter is making me a tote bag!

That is awesome. Thanks Cuttlegirl for not only finding, and sharing, but uploading the pic to inspire us all.

Here is what I have found out: That fabric is one of several color combos made in that pattern by Duralee. However, it is only sold to people in the industry. Big whoop! If I let that stop me, I'd have nothing in my life.

However, as I have friends in the industry, they are ordering me some of it. I can always put in some more fabric if someone wants to purchase the extra.

And something for the ladies...

Here is an Octo Saltbox, chainlink tote (http://www.ebags.com/saltbox/octopus_chainlink_small_tote/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=101065).

Me thinks I shall have to get my girl one.

Ok, I'm worn out. Been searching for something particular, and found everything else.

Here's the last one for the day which you can find here (http://greenfabric.com/creative_roles/49_Sugar_Lily_Designs?zoom=1127).

By the way, hope you appreciate all the links. Makes it easier when it's time to buy. $$$.

I went immediately to order one, thinking even if it is a little expensive, I really want it. Unfortunately, like most of the other stuff I want, it is a lot expensive! $130 for a hoodie is too far out of my meager budget this year.

PS, since being chastised, I always post pics AND links

OK,

For all who love Cuttlegirl's find when it comes to this chair, I have found the fabric source AND a friend at an uphostery shop (the owner) will order it for us.

It's a little pricey, but not too bad at $30 a yard. However, that yard is not like what you would see in a fabric store as it's 54" wide! Why? It's upholstery fabric and it's an Indoor/Outdoor fabric. It has a 27" repeat which means that every 27" the pattern repeats. As you can see from her chair, it's a big octo.

It comes in Red as seen in above, as well as Black, Green, Blue, and Aqua.

I am buying some, so if others want to jump in, let's do it. A yard will easily cover chairs like the one seen in the picture. I am actually having cushions made for outside lawn chairs. There is no shipping charge to get the fabric to the store, but there will have to be some charge for me to get it to you. However, I should be able to put it in a padded Fedex or UPS envelope and get it to you for under $10.

If I get my fabric, then I am going to have to get this (http://www.shophandmade.com/Item/6-758-H1912CT) too

(Sorry for the image size, large size is not copyable)

Also found it on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=16303587) in a smaller version

Erich? Tony?

So far it's just me and the D (Whatley, that is...).

We (my fiance, not dwhatley) are putting it into seat cushions for outside lawn chairs. You see, I have a weekly gathering of conservatively minded fellows known as the Esteemed Gentlemen of Cigar Night. All incur names over time, and mine is William the Submariner. Already as I have a tabby style house of seashells and stucco, I am well in character; but an octo-adorned chair will seal the deal most nicely.:sink:
