Silence fell -- and then
young Tom spoke: "If ye've got worms,
don't fret.... drink whiskey!"

Wee young Tom Clancy
Grew up worm-free, wrote books and
Now shoots guns at home

Dammit.

Unless you jest, Clem,
you've got the wrong Clancy clan:
I meant the singers:

Tom, Paddy, Liam,
and their mate, Tommy Makem.
(My age is showing!)

Taningia O'Danae
(who attended several Clancys & Makem concerts back in ancient times)

how much did caesar
pay for the tickets back then
when he took you out? :P

insolence of youth
can still be found in my words
and boy, it feels great! :)

Ten denarii,
but Julius got a discount
for his pic on coins.

After the concert
we went back to his palace
for a royal feast.

I made the salad,
he asked for the recipe.
I complied, of course.

Many years later,
I found it on a menu....
O foul plagiarist!

For Julius Caesar
had stolen my recipe,
and gave it his name.

(Get it? Caesar salad? How about an "E" for effort? Peasants!)

Wouldn't ya know it,
After months of a "dry spell",
my first real haiku

was about a ceph
and in Esperanto, too!
Behold, it follows:

Gracia polpo,
vi faras en la maro
dancon misteran.

-- TD, 6/25/03

Pronunciation (just in case anyone gives a coprolite :D ):

graht-SEE-ah POHL-poh
vee FAH-rahss ehn lah MAH-roh
DAHN-tsohn meest-EH-rahn

(Actually it is similar in content to my "Deep Mystery" haiku, except about an Octo. Literal translation: "Graceful Octopus, you do a mysterious dance in the sea.")

while you get points for using a fictional  language, i didnt know they issued cards, i thought just green dots....

the flood was not cool
a bit unnecessary
one post would suffice

no worries my dear
you know, no blood - no foul, but
not a bad idea.... :grad:

Why blame Pinochet
Though horrible he is dry
And fond of poems

Wrapped in blubber
Armed with a paddle Saddam
Reaches Chile's shore

Beloved Humpback
Swam shiva for you and now
They think you a squid

I have no idea
of which photos you all speak --
I see none attached

nor is Oaxaca
anywhere represented
on this cryptic thread.

Which of Clem's artworks --
signed or unsigned, I know not --
do you refer to?

"I am but an egg,"
somehow still out of the loop.
Please explain, someone?

i am not in proper set of mind to put this in haiku... the first clem pictures metnioned were i believe, in the globster/sighting thread.... as for clem looking so suave, take a gander at the meet the staff page.....

Indeed, Kiboko,
we can be found everywhere,
though you don't know it

Beneath the Green Star
(not dots, as you conjecture)
we rally bravely

speaking our language --
two million speakers worldwide,
though scattered afar

I carry three cards
one for the group in Noo Yawk
one for the US

and one for the world.
We're here, we're green, deal with it --
you ask us, we'll tell:

Esperantistoj,
fieraj kaj kuragxaj --
ni estas cxie!

PS: Seriously.... if anyone here (US or Canada) wants a complimentary copy of Lesson One of ELNA's Free Ten-Lesson Postal Course (snailmail), please PM me -- no obligation, and lots of fun if you decide to take it. Outside US or Canada, PM me for the address to write to for more info.

[WK, this is my last shameless unsolicited Esperanto plug, I promise! ]

shameless plugs end here,
but how many plugs remain
with a tinge of shame? :)

i really care not,
if it keeps tani happy...
just dont be blatant :)

but i do suggest
the den of the octopus
would be much better
